The long range wireless doorbell

When the wireless doorbell first entered the market, it created a furore. People were buying it without being fully aware of its specifications and limitations. The models prevalent at that time had a maximum range of 75 to 100 feet. Also, the doorbells regularly got triggered off by other external frequencies. Very soon, complaints started to pour in and the volume of sales declined by a fair margin. Only people with a fascination for technology preferred the new wireless version over the more stable and reliable wired doorbell. Additionally, a huge segment of buyers with larger homes were being left out. Almost immediately, doorbell manufacturers went back to the drawing board and came up with improved longer range models that extended the sound range to 300 to 500 feet. The long range wireless doorbell came as a boon for people with large multi floor homes. High end intercom models extended the sound range to 3000 feet. This meant an end to additional sound amplifiers and multiple receivers that buyers had to invest in.

How it works

The long range wireless doorbell is like any other wireless doorbell but with a stronger transmitter and a high quality built in antenna in the receiver. This enables a better and clearer signal over a longer distance.

Where do I use it?

The most obvious but important advantage of using the long range wireless doorbell is that it eliminates the need for installing the receiver within a 100 or 150 feet of the transmitter. Now you can install it in your garage, attic or any other place where you would like to bell to ring. For example, if your study is situated on the first floor of your home, then you can install the doorbell receiver in the study.

Is it expensive?

Not really. Long range wireless doorbells can cost you about $50 to $100. This is pretty much the same as what a high end wireless doorbell model would cost. Even long range wireless intercom models cost only around $150 to $250. I wouldn’t call that expensive. Yes, they are costlier than normal models but if you look at the added functionality and minus the cost of installing additional amplifiers, then it is a very good deal.
